Sprouting Fairy Gardens
Students will create miniature edible sprout gardens by planting Red Clover, Alfalfa, Mustard, Sunflower, Fenugreek, or Peas in takeout containers that they will take back to school/home. Growing Veggies & Herbs
Students will create a mini-greenhouse out of a 2L water bottler, in which they will grow Lettuce, Arugula, or Parsley at home/school. Students will learn what plants need to grow, and that different crops require different growing conditions. We’ll explore tricks that farmers use to grow food in Canada despite cold winters & a short growing season.

Worm Composting
Students will learn about all Red Wigglers, by meeting the worms in a composting bin, and exploring their anatomy and life cycle. Feed the worms by adding ‘greens’ (veggie scraps) and ‘browns’ (shredded paper & leaves) to the bins, and learn what NOT to add to the bin. Make ‘worm tea’ from worm castings to take back home/to school & use as fertilizer.
